Additional Information

She’s crept back into the home she lost. He’s crept into her heart.

Sophie Russell was once society’s darling. But after the disgrace and death of her father, she now finds all doors firmly shut to her—including those of her family home. To discover the secrets now hidden within its beloved walls, she’ll pose as a cook and spy on the estate’s new owner, a broodingly handsome viscount, who may have schemed against the Russells. Instead of dishing up the truth, the viscount tempts Sophie with delicacies of his own…

Viscount Griffiths suspects that there is more to his new cook than meets the eye—especially since it was a mistress he hired sight unseen, not a cook. With the hope that her passion in the kitchen will extend to his bedchamber, he humors the beautiful interloper. But when that passion burns to brightest love, revelations may shake both of their wary hearts…

The final sensuous book in the Scandal at the House of Russell trilogy will lay the truth bare.

I cannot believe I am giving an Anne Stuart book only 3 stars. Let me begin by saying I cannot write an interesting letter. My argument is not with the writing but rather the story. If that makes any sense. I will not do a recap others do it very well.

I never really liked the heroine, and I was almost fifty percent through the book before it started to really interest me. The beginning seemed more dithering and pining and thinking about each other than anything else. I was about half way through the book when I thought it was really about to begin, but a few more pages of dallying were ahead. There was a good story! However for me it didn't start until about 75 percent and then to a rushed and overly dramatic ending.

My best advice is, if you are reading the series, definitely read this one. If you have not read the others MOST definitely do not begin with this one. I love Anne Stuart, this was just not one of her best to me.

This historical series is lighter in tone than Stuart’s more recent contemporaries. The heroes are not as dark as the prototypical Stuart hero and the story overall has more humorous elements. NEVER MARRY A VISCOUNT is a concluding story that seeks to wrap up the murder mystery that the three Russell sisters have been attempting to solve. After her two older sisters have gone off and married the prior two suspects, it is left to the youngest sister to seek out the last suspect that the sisters have.

THE STORY: Sophia Russell is the youngest Russell sister and the one her older sisters believe is the most helpless. Having been left by her two older sisters with their old nanny, Sophia has been spending her time watching the local Viscount, Alexander Griffiths swimming in the pool at his house. Viscount Griffiths is the final suspect that the sisters have as to who stole from the family company and murdered their father. The sisters having been left penniless, they... Read more
This was the finale of The House of Russell, a trilogy involving three sisters, nearly destitute after their father's death and disgrace. They decide to investigate the possible suspects in their father's death, which they feel was murder. Beyond, the eldest, sets off to see if she can find some evidence in the home of Lord Kylmartin, becoming his housekeeper. Mandy, the middle sister, impatient at not hearing from Bryony, goes after Capt. Morgan, one of their father's former ship captains. And Sophie, the youngest, stuck in the country living with their retired nanny, looks into The lord who has reclaimed their old estate. There is intrigue, a clever plot against the Russell's, and the unraveling of it makes for a fast moving trio of stories.
