The patterns in this book are part of a series published by H. K. Berlin SW in Germany from the 1860s to the 1880s.Designs charted on graph paper are a universal language which can be translated into needlepoint, counted cross stitch and beadwork, with each square on the pattern representing a single stitch. These patterns can be worked in simple cross stitches and backstitches accented with the occasional Smyrna cross or Eyelet stitch (shown on page 32).
