I was thrilled to find the complete 2-disc soundtrack to "Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch" as an Amazon MP3 download, as I was instantly enchanted by the game's musical score within the first hour of playing the game. I had been closely following the physical copy in hopes that it would drop its hefty $55 price tag, but now that it's available through digital download, I took no hesitation in purchasing this marvelous treat for the ears.
The game itself is nothing short of spectacular, and Joe Hisaishi's original score is no exception. It's revolutionary in every sense, and every song is written and performed with the story's heart as the forefront of the music's flair. Though I have invested over 90 hours into the game, I never once grew tired of any of the musical themes present in this collection. I loved this game! I absolutely love the music! The music takes me on a nostalgic trip every time I hear it. I can only give this 4 stars because as awesome as the soundtrack is, too many of the tracks that I truly loved: Boss battle theme, Ara Memoriae, Executor's Knight, are missing from the playlist. I loved playing the game, and the music just hooked me. I had to have it! The main theme is my favorite because you can really hear Oliver's personality. It starts off with this grand, epic fanfare, and then falls into this sweet high solo melody....it's innocent and brave and almost sad, it has a kind of pure longing to it.. It's exactly who Oliver is through the game and it fits perfectly. In memory of Allie is incredibly delicate and fragile, yet has a real warmth and hopefulness that makes Oliver's song that much more resonant. It gives you an understanding of just how much Allicia meant to him, and how brave he is in his quest to save her.
The towns all have their own music too, and each one brings out the proper mood. Ding Dong Dell's music is wonderfully Rennaisance, giving the impression of scampering mice and lazy felines. One could almost imagine that the composer used the timing of a cat's tail swish. Al Mamoon's has just the right impression of sun,...
