I am a photo enthusiast. I recently purchased by first full frame DSLR, the D600. However, it is quite different from the D5000 that I had and needed something better than the user manual to understand where to use what and why.
This book helps with examples and photos and pictures of the settings chosen. It is not meant to do away with the User Manual but it does only tell you the different capabilities of this wonderful camera but also where to use those and how to use those to get the results you desire.
I must be honest on this one: I bought the book in order to definer if this was my next camera or the D800. Considering the price of both of these cameras an investment in "field intelligence" was more than adequate. The book is perfectly done, and very easy to read. The kindle version I bought has, as well, the classic "ups" of an ebook adding the virtues of Kindle Paper white : no weight or volume, easy search, always ready for consultation within the "library"and, self lighten in case you are a night or flight reader. Thumbs up !!!
Ordered this shortly after I purchased my D600. Had been shooting with Olympus 4/3rds for 6 plus years, and I needed to get familiar with every feature of my new camera in a very short time. An easy read, the perfect complimentary companion to the extensive owner's manual, which I also read cover to cover. Helped me become extremely comfortable with my new steed, it's menu setup is far more complex than what I was used to with my older Olympus body, learning the shortcuts makes operation intuitive and liberating !! This camera is a BEAST and this book helped me tame it, luv the images I'm producing !!
