I am a big Paleo Diet fan and have been into healthy cooking for my family for a while now (since my two kids really...) I always had a challenge finding simple, healthy and tasty recipes for my 2 kids to enjoy. This book has it all for me, its straight forward, easy to read and full of delicious and quick recipes that my kids really like! Makes my life much easier now!
Thank you
The paleo explanation early in the book, references paleo being low in saturated fat. This is not true. Saturated fat from proper sources are good for us! (ghee or tallow from grass fed cows, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, lard from properly raised pigs, etc) One recipe included corn, which is a grain, and the explanation said no grains. There is another paleo explanation later in the book, and that one correctly mentioned butter from grass fed cows, but this contradicts the author's explanation of no dairy. This book has a lot of coconut flour recipes. There's nothing wrong with baking with coconut flour, but I was hoping for more veggie options.
I'm sure many of the recipes are great but NONE of the pictures are of those recipes. It is very obvious... The muffin pictured had oats on top (no oats in recipe). The omelet had tomatoes but no spinach in the picture (the recipe has spinach but no tomatoes). The raspberry scone recipe had a picture of blueberry scones. The list goes on... I think most troubling is that the traditional grain recipes like pancakes, waffles, popcorn chicken, fish sticks, ect have pictures of the traditional grain/gluten filled food which in no way represents what your final grain free product will look like. This may not be an issue for some but if your a newbie if can be a little disconcerting when your final product looks NOTHING like your expecting. At minimum I think the authors should include a disclaimer that the photos are not of the recipes. Honestly, maybe they did, I was too annoyed to make it to the end but I did double check the first few pages and it wasn't there.
