McKenzie is like any other teenage girl: makeup, parties, and boys. But when a horrific car wreck alters her life leaving her paralyzed and her best friend dead, she’ll never look at life the same way again.

 
On the day of their high school graduation, McKenzie and her best friend, Aurora, encounter a treacherous thunderstorm while driving home. What should have been a day full of laughter and memories was instead an ongoing nightmare. A distracted McKenzie coupled with dangerously wet roads loses control of their car and collides into a nearby tree. After a four-day coma, McKenzie wakes up in a hospital bed only to discover her legs are unresponsive and that Aurora was killed in the crash. And to make the horrifying reality even worse, she’s the one responsible for her best friend’s death!

 
McKenzie struggles to adjust to her new life without her legs, or her best friend. Consumed by guilt and misery, she considers taking her own life, but ultimately abandons the dark thought thanks to pleading family members and agrees to enter rehab. But McKenzie knows unless she receives a medical miracle, it is unlikely she will ever walk again.

After several months of rehab with no progress, a brokenhearted McKenzie loses what little hope had remained. That is until the day a blind boy appears at the same rehab facility and shows her that being a little different isn’t such a bad thing. As their relationship blooms, McKenzie realizes something she had previously dismissed as impossible—she found love in a hopeless place.
