It was 1733 when the poet and philosopher Voltaire met Emilie du ChÃ¢telet, a beguilingâ€”and marriedâ€”aristocrat who would one day popularize Newtonâ€™s arcane ideas and pave the way for Einsteinâ€™s theories.
