His Piano Concerto (1926) of neoclassical character and popular flair and his Symphonietta (1906) occupy the focus. Like his great Symphony in d (cpo 777 679-2), the Symphonietta lends moving expression to the insurmountable grief felt by the composer following his sons boyhood death.
