- Size: 1/4 inch-20
- Features an internal nylon ring that grips bolt threads better than a standard finished nut
- Great for use in applications where the bolt may be subject to vibration
- Can also be used as a secondary nut to help lock the main nut in place
- The side with the nylon insert should face towards the tip of the bolt, not towards the surface being fastened
Lock nuts (or locknuts) feature a nylon insert that grips onto threads and resists loosening due to vibration. It is best to only use each nut once as its holding power is reduced if reused. They should not be used in extremely high heat or in certain chemical environments as that could weaken the plastic insert.
