If you like darker shadows that is a good choice. The pigment fades out nicely with a stump. But it is on the darker side… not black eyeliner goth but darker. It does have a bit of white pigment in it which does some strange things. The creamy white can create a suggestion of pastel for underlying colors which sounds strange. Prismacolor white has a blending quality and many use it for that purpose by layering colors. For shadows it can be a little awkward. Do some tests first. I still go with a graphite stick if I want a steady middle gray shadow. But there is something nice about this particular gray.
This gray is a bit warm. Just a bit. I use it as a shadowing pencil so the warmer tones are awkward next to really cool areas. Fortunately it smudges really nicely with a stump and if I feather a light blue over it it does cool off. It also has some white pigment in it which gives it a creamy quality. Prismacolor white pencils are a type of blender which does tend to push the primary color into pastel shades. This gray pencil is not quite right for me but it certainly could be for you.
I purchased Cool Grey 70%. The color shows up as more of a de-saturated grey than the blue you see in the image, which caught me by surprise. (I needed blue-grey to color my character.) However, the name of the color itself is "Cool GREY," so it's entirely my fault for assuming it would have more of a blue hue. Either way, the pencil is still nice and it shows up very pigmented on the paper without pressing hard. It sharpens VERY nicely. The lead never breaks and the wood never chips. I definitely recommend this brand.
