I read this book years ago, but wanted to obtain my own copy. With more time to peruse the pages, I realized that a great deal of research went into this history, and found more facts that I'd missed in my earlier reading. The French are accused of producing sub-par machines and products, which in the case of semi-automatic battle rifles, is not justified. Anyone with an interest in semi-automatic battle rifles, and especially French military rifles of this field of firearms, will find a great deal of information and enjoyment in this volume.
Due to the rather secretive nature of French arms development, information on this topic is not the easiest to come by. This books rectifies that situation quite nicely, with detailed descriptions, histories, and photographs covering the entire span of French semi-automatic rifle development ending with the MAS 49/56.
An excellent book which is to be expected from Collector Grade Publications. I had no idea that the French were such innovators in the fields of firearms and ammunition design. Fascinating subject written about very well.
