This is a great book from a great series, Eagles Over the Pacific.

Lawrence Hickey and Mike Levy have produced a meticulously researched book; extremely well documented, wonderfully illustrated with great photographs accompanied by relevant, informative captions. The marvelous artwork and detailed illustrations of individual aircraft and nose art from renowned aviation artist Jack Fellows can only be considered icing on the cake.

The story is very well told and extraordinarily complete. The frustrations of being on the end of a very long supply line in a theatre that was given low priority and fighting weather that could be, and quite often was, deadlier than the Japanese. Attacking at low level where you had the instant gratification of seeing your bullets tear your target apart but where you also had little or no time to react, much less bail out, if your plane was badly hit. Moving from one hell-hole to another as the war progressed, battling waist deep... Read more
Many who are interested in WWII air combat may already be familiar with Lawrence Hickey's earlier and better-known "Warpath Across the Pacific," a unit history of the 345th Bomb Group, the famed B-25 strafer outfit.

Outstanding in every way - well written, highly detailed content, interesting, lots of photographs and maps and printed on high quality paper in hardback. Apart from the historical perspective, the contents of the book provides a glimpse into a era now long gone...
