Despite their common French nationality, Camille Saint-Saens and Maurice Ravel represent very different aspects of French music. Saint-Saens Third Symphony, one of his finest creations, is lush, ecstatic and compositionally innovative with an eye towards Lisztian methods. Ravel's orchestral works sparkle with endlessly fascinating coloristic outpourings. The Seattle Symphony under their Music Director Ludovic Morlot has enjoyed national and international acclaim for its programming and performances.
