But if you’re not artistic and don't care for painting, an EZ body is a good substitute for champion looks to get you noticed on race day! let's be clear: an EZ body is not a complete car. What it is a body shell that you attach to your pinewood Derby racer. It's made from a hard, light plastic that's extra-durable, so it’ll last a long time and won't weigh your racer down. You can attach it in a number of different ways; with white glue (for instance) or small screws or hook & loop material. And best of all, there are two stock car bodies to choose from, and both are already finished. You will have modified your pinewood Derby racer to use it. And you’ll still need stay under the maximum weight limit. But you’ll be that much closer to being ready on race day and the focus of every eye. The best way to make sure your car stays under the maximum weight limit (5 ounces or 141 grams) is as follows: put the modified block together with the EZ body, wheels and axles on a scale, and note the weight. If you’re below the maximum, you have two options: race your car as is…or add weight little by little until its weight is closer to the maximum.
