This lens is excellent as a sky or landscape lens, and has fixed the corner color cast issues that the version 1 lens had on some cameras. However, minimum focus for a fisheye is not good, it is actually difficult to get subjects out of focus. F/2.8 center sharpness is good, and it is good across the frame when you stop down. You will see some flare with the sun in the frame, but also get fairly nice star bursts with the aperture stepped down. It is great for 180 degree (diagonal, and close to that horizontal) star field and sky shots.
The lens is a different projection than most fisheye lenses. It is equiangular (aka stereographic), where it preserves angles between subjects. So you will still get a small amount of perspective distortion (stretching of objects near the edge of the frame) but less center bulge then you get with a classic equidistant fisheye.
