Scared of school? Don't worry. You can be cool and rule!

School is hard! There's a lot to know, like where to sit on the bus, how to find your way around the halls, and what to do to make sure you stay on your teacher's good side. Lucky for you Alec Greven has just turned eleven, and he's seen it all. Alec passes down his sixth-grade wisdom and gives advice that will help every student who's starting out or just started out on the wrong foot.

Want to rule the school? Alec tells you how!

I gave this book 4 stars as it is pretty long. I broke it up over 4 days during the first week of school (I taught 3rd grade at the time). Each rule worked perfectly in my classroom and were familiar to students. Each rule included a paragraph or two about the rule from the view point of the little boy. It was very fun and helped to lighten a topic that is tough for some kids to handle. By breaking it up, it served a reminder of things that we should each day. It also covered rules for lunch and recess. I would use this again if I hadn't moved up to the big kids this year (now teaching 6th grade).
A different type of book from Alec's previous "How to Talk to_____" books, but he does a great job presenting realistic and effective rules in a fun manner. It sounds simple, but there is plenty of good advice here for getting along in school.
Cool rules for kids! I had a great time reading and talking about this book with my son. It was a great bonding book
