I really enjoyed this SG-1 adventure, it feels just like watching an episode of the show and has lots of references to different episodes making it feel like it could have really happened in canon. In fact there is a great amount of connection within the series, several nods are made to what happens in the episodes both before and after this novel is set, in the middle of season five, so there are lots of fun references to look out for. The plot has some cool original concepts, they fit very well with the Stargate universe and I loved how well they were integrated into the story while still making it feel like Stargate. Some authors don't quite capture that feeling all the way, but Ms. Sinard got it perfect. The plot is like one big mind game, and this is one of those books where you, the reader knows whats going on but the team doesn't and it's great to see them go through that and figure things out as the story goes along, SG-1 had several episodes like that over the years and... After the last few SG1 books left me a bit disappointed (let's face it, they won't all be brilliant), I was wary of their newest offering. Of COURSE I ordered it and had to read it, though, because...Stargate! Fandemonium!

I have to say, I was impressed. For a first time author, she hit is out of the park. The characterizations were spot on, the story "believable" (as in, believable in the context of the show's premise), and the writing was tight and fast paced enough to keep it interesting without being so busy it was hard to follow.

I had a few questions thoughts on the story, and some things I wanted to ask the author (out of curiosity, not over things that weren't clear in the book), and was lucky enough to discuss them with the author recently at Gatecon in Vancouver (Sept 8-11, 2016). She's lovely and very excited about Stargate, along with all the other Fandemonium authors. In her author bio for the con, it mentioned her fanfic author name, and... Read more
Good story idea, which could have been a very interesting addition to Stargate books. Unfortunately the regular characters were not accurate, while there are reasons for this in some parts of the narrative, there were just too many glaring errors to ever feel this was written by someone with more than a passing connection to SG1 and made for a frustrating read. Some parts of the book just seemed to go on and on, and the continually changing perspective was quite clunky. It would have been very easy to give up trying to read this one and probably not one I'll ever revisit.
