Dinosaurs have been found on all continents, even Antarctica! Named in 1994, the ancient meat-eater Cryolophosaurus was discovered high on a mountain about 400 miles (650 kilometers) from the South Pole. Its most distinctive feature is the peculiar bony crest atop its head, which may have been brightly colored and used to intimidate rivals or attract mates. Scientists believe Cryolophosaurus to be a relatively primitive predatory dinosaur, closely related to another crested meat-eater, Dilophosaurus.
