I purchased my Tab S2 at Best Buy but I wanted to share my thoughts on Amazon. I'm not going to go over specs and such since you can read those in a hundred other places. Though I will say that the "new" version is preloaded with Marshmallow and now uses a Qualcomm octacore processor in place of the Exynos that shipped with the first gen. I decided to make a quick video of my Tab S2 8 and the accesories I use with it (keyboard, mouse, otg adapter, and usb hub). It is my hope that it will simplify the transiton for those of you that are not familiar with Android or haven't used a tablet before. I've replaced my laptop and desktop with the 9.7 and 8 inch Tab S2's. So far I've had no issue doing the things I used to do with my computer like: ms office, printing (wired and wireless), browsing the web, transferring documents etc to and from the device, and much more. I even mirror my Note 5 on the tablet using SideSync so I don't...
This review is for those contemplating upgrading from the old T710 or T810 to the new T713 or T813 versions.
I am comparing the old Tab S2 (SM-T810) to the new Tab S2 (SM-T813). I have both the old an new versions with me, both with 64GB of internal storage, and I am comparing them side by side. This comparison is also applicable for the T710 and T713 versions, and for the 32GB versions,
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES External appearance -- no difference between the old T810 and the new T-813 in physical dimensions, weight, appearance, or function.
Internal processor - old T810 runs on Exynos chip set, while the new T813 runs on Snapdragon chip set.
OS - old T810 runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, while the new T813 runs on Android 6.01.
Everything else on the spec sheets looks to be identical.
PERFORMANCE The old T810 puts out an Antutu score of 65,273, while the new T813 puts out an Antutu scor of 81,232 That is...
Yes, this model SM-T713 indeed has Marshmallow, 6.0.1 out of the box. If the confusing listing was holding you back go ahead and purchase, but read on.
Gorgeous display. I have never seen better in an 8" format. Quick, responsive, everything you'd expect from a higher end Samsung. Battery life greatly improved with Marshmallow on this model compared to Lollipop. I'm not in love with the screen ratio, but I'm not big on watching anything but short videos on tablets so lack of "wide screen" format isn't that much of a minus for me. I'm giving it 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 because of the Super AMOLED display.
Major quibble though about the amount of bloat on here. I intentionally chose Samsung S2 because I mistakenly thought there would be less bloatware. Not true. It's just better quality bloat. I do not need the entire Microsoft Office Suite on an 8" tablet. In fact, I need none of it. Plus all the Office apps are available for free as stand-alone...
