This is a nice upgrade to the already great Triumph ISO. The new softer topsole cushion creates a little more spring. I have a high and relatively inflexible arch. Overall for me the shoe promotes a mid-foot strike, or when heel striking, a smooth roll to mid-foot. Toe space and width is good. I did not have any issues with the laces, which in my opinion are the best of any shoe manufacturer, or the eyelets. The ISO sleeve and shell wrap my feet, and there is no heel slip. The Saucony Triumph ISO 2 has become my go-to trainer. I plan to run an upcoming marathon in them. I expect wear to be excellent, but will try to update after I have put a couple hundred miles in the shoes.
At 50, I still log 30+ miles a week running (after two back surgeries and a host of other back procedures). I'm not a long and lean runner either; more the bulky weightlifting type. I'm very particular with my running shoes and the type of ride I look for. I like a smooth and plush ride that does as much as a shoe can to assist in protecting my back; all my miles are on a treadmill (again, protecting the back). I moved to Saucony with their initial Triumph ISO and loved it. Saucony's encore is even better (IMO), the ride is plush and smooth, yet it doesn't feel like you're wearing pillows on your feet. The Triumph ISO's lacing system locks your foot in place without pinching the top of your arch, there is a proper amount of tongue padding and it stands up to use. If you like a really big toe box, this might not be for you; I don't particularly like a big toe box and my feet tend towards narrow rather than wide.
I normally wear New Balance shoes for running because they offer wides and there's good construction/durability. But, I have been very pleased so far with these Saucony ISO Triumph 2 shoes. I was looking for a model that would protect my feet when I'm running 24 miles, 4 days a week in the city. I read these could handle 1/2 and full marathons with no problem, so I took a chance at trying this brand. They do feel a lot like running on mattresses and the frame is a little stiff out of the box. But, I think they will soften up a bit with more mileage. Definitely order a half size up as others recommend. I normally wear 10.5 wide in everything, but an 11 wide is the perfect length for the ISO Triumph 2. They are priced really well for all the technology that you get with this shoe, and I'm confident that they will protect my feet from any shocks from running in the city. I've had some problems with my NB Vazees leaving my feet banged up due to the urban unevenness and hard...
