Stay away from this unless you want to have your hdmi ports damaged!!!.

This did work and always ran hot. Worked for a few months then died and blew the hdmi ports of both of my tv's.
I can connect the dish box to another port (port 2) and it works fine but port 1 on both are dead.

Oh yeah and the Sewell responds with "you need a surge protector."

Well Sewell you need to stop lying to people.. I not only have in the wall "surge outlets: but a surge strip which this was plugged into since it was a small power brick.
And guess what,no other equipment was damaged and the surge strips all still show green.

So this is some sort of defect where the unit internally fails and takes the tv's with it.

I just hope i can spare just one person from going through the same thing I went through!
This splitter may have poorly-controlled voltage output! When the small TV in my study stopped accepting HDMI input, I figured it was just getting old. I replaced it and continued using this splitter to make the same signal available for both the big living room TV and the new small one. Last week the big TV stopped accepting HDMI signals and the repair people told me the HDMI main board on my TV was burned out and that I must replace the cable box that was putting out the wrong signal. I said, wait a minute, I'm using a *powered* splitter, could that be the problem? You bet. So I'm both replacing the cable box and throwing away this Sewell Splitter and I'm going to use an *unpowered* "one-in, two-out" switch instead. It's no big problem to switch manually since I don't use both displays simultaneously. I can't be sure that this splitter was the cause, but I see another reviewer with the same experience and I just paid $450 to have my big TV repaired, so be warned!
I currently have 4 displays and I wanted to use my PS4 Pro on all of them depending on various situations without having to constantly switch HDMI cables, plug and unplug. 2 of the displays handles full 4k at 60hz and is HDCP 2.2 enabled. One of the displays is just 1080p, and the last one can handle 2.0 but does not have the latest 2.2 HDCP standard.
When all of the devices are hooked up, the splitter will only sent a 1080p signal (even to my fully capable 4k display). However, the splitter works perfectly if only the full 4k 60hz displays are hooked up. This defeats the purpose of my purchase as I have to plug and unplug still.
However, I don't blame the maker of the product fully. Because of the strict 2.2 HDCP standards, it only makes sense that the signal must handshake with all of the devices that are connected to complete the circuit and enable the signal. If anything on the other end isn't compliant, it will default to the lowest setting. So for all of the... Read more
