Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates - Bridge - Gold - Electric Guitar Pickup
Product Description
Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates - Bridge - Gold - Electric Guitar Pickup
- The Pearly Gates neck captures all the mojo of the original neck pickup from Billy Gibbons’ 1959 Les Paul. It is a P.A.F. with a unique tonal variation that provides more midrange than typical humbuckers from that time. The result is a neck pickup that cuts through with stronger tailored mids, but still has the open and airy treble attack of the Alnico 2 bar magnet. Combined with a warm, spongy low-end, this pickup is great for both rhythm and lead playing.
- Hand built in our Santa Barbara, CA factory, the Pearly Gates vintage output humbucker pickups use an Alnico 2 bar magnet, nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options, and are vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance.
- As with all our P.A.F. style humbuckers, every Pearly Gates is wound on Seymour’s original Leesona winding machine from the early Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan, for that unmistakable vintage mojo.
- Handmade in Santa Barbara, California: Seymour Duncan takes pride in designing and crafting our products to create the most amazing sound possible. That starts with providing an environment that attracts and retains our great team of engineers, product designers and craftsmen, many of whom have been with the company for decades.
- DCR Neck: 7.30, Magnet: Alnico 2, 4c Shielded Cable
The Seymour Duncan SH-PG1b Pearly Gates pickup is a warm, slightly-hotter-than-vintage humbucker. Great for blues, classic rock, southern rock, jam, and hard rock. Originally designed as a recreation of the pickups in the '59 Les Paul® Standard that defined the raw, rebellious sound of Texas blues-rock. The Pearly Gates is sweet, but slightly rude, with great sustain and a bright top end that makes harmonics jump out of the guitar. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable.
Often used in both neck (SH-PG1n) and bridge (SH-PG1b) positions. Can be used in the bridge with an APH-1n Alnico II Pro in the neck for smoother tones; or, a Pearly Gates in the neck with an SH-11 Custom Custom for heavier rock sounds from the bridge position. For brighter toned instruments. Works especially well with maple and ebony fingerboards. Also works great with hollow and semi-hollow body guitars.
Used by Dickey Betts (neck & bridge), Warren Haynes / Gov't Mule (neck & bridge), Howard Leese / Heart (neck & bridge), Greg Martin / Kentucky Headhunters (neck & bridge).
