Price: B+ Purchased from Amazon on June 11, 2015. At the time the price was $3299.99. I opened a chat with a very friendly Amazon Rep, and had them price match to Sharp’s Website which lowered the price to $2599.99. Today (June 20, 2015) has this TV listed for $2599.98. I can live with overpaying by a penny.
Unboxing / Installation: A The TV is very well packaged and contained plenty of Styrofoam to keep it protected in transit. The following items are included in the box along with the TV:
Two Remotes, one large IR, and one small Bluetooth, 4 AA batteries, two feet with mounting hardware, a USB extension cable, and IR Blaster (for sound bar use only – More on this later) Brackets for my wall mount installed without an fuss, and the TV, while heavy was light enough for the wife, and I to lift (six feet) into place without any real issue.
Remotes: IR C+ / Bluetooth B+ First the larger IR remote is long, and bulky and not...
Have been looking for a 70 inch 4k TV for some time. Tried a Sony XBR70X850B and was very disappointed in the Picture Quality. Upscaled 1080i from Dish looked horrible with tons of artifacts and the color of fleshtones has this ugly Magenta/Green crossover problem where darks are greenish and light tones are magenta.
This Sharp LC70UH30U has the best picture I have seen on a TV! Unlike the bling on Samsung's glossy screens, the semi-matt screen on this Sharp plays well in normal living rooms with windows and the upscaler does an excellent job improving the picture of all my sources. Color is very natural looking without any outstanding problems. The software, remote and internet features of this TV could use some improvement but none of these problems are deal breakers for me. Lets face it...what's a TV for? Watching TV, and the picture on this TV makes me want to go through my media and watch it all over again just to see what I've been missing!
I've had this for about a week and the picture is stunning. The set up was simple.
Unfortunately the "streaming through the Android TV" feature is not terribly mature. (That is my nice way of saying "broken").
Starting a title using, say, Hulu means that I will see the initial ad (maybe) and when the content should stream... I get sound and no picture. I have to back out of the app and then resume watching the episode in order to roll the dice and maybe get a picture. Any time the picture switches between an ad and content I lose video content. I can still see the bug in the corner that tells me what channel I'm watching (Comedy Central, etc) and I can see the ad countdown timer, but the picture is black. Sometimes? Sometimes it comes back on and it's missing a color. It is reminiscent only having a VGA cable not plugged in all the way. This is of course not the case here. It just looks broken (see pictures). This goes away upon...
