Great for indoor or outdoor use. The battery powered motor is perfect for using inside the house since it's quiet, small, and easy to operate. You can use it outside but find a well protected area away from moisture. It can handle getting rained on and still spin but it's best to use it under a porch or eve of your house and bring it inside if the weather is bad.
Protect it from rain outside by using a plastic bag to cover it; remove the flexible hook on the top, place the bag over, and re-attach the hook.
Protect the motor from resistance by using a string or swivel.
