This documentary isn't so much about the homes, but about the personal relationship of the couple; the young man, Ben and his feelings about his immediate family,(BTW nether build was finished by the end of the year, so there was no actual living in the homes for the couple or the single guy) and the personal loss experienced by the one woman who is actually living the small house lifestyle.
I can see why one reviewer said there was too much "drama," which would be okay if you show us the disagreements instead of just saying there was one.
I hope the subjects finish their homes and get to enjoy them. Maybe a follow up documentary can show them actually living in the homes they put so much heart, time, and sweat equity into making their own.
I have to admit I was hoping more for a documentary about those actually living in their small houses and the challenges they face with less space, no storage, weather, entertaining, storing seasonal clothing, composting... Read more
It would be more accurate to say this is a documentary about 4 people who decided to build a tiny house not about how to build one or what its like living in one. So from the start my expectations were disappointed. There were several discussions about designing the house and the issues each ran into while building, but nothing in real detail. I was expecting to see a start to finish showcase. Maybe showing where you can get plans, how one might alter them ( and what tools would be needed to do so ), where one should look to find a place to build it, builders resources, what to look out for and avoid, and maybe a what I would have done differently section.

What I got was a documentary spending as much time with the reasons each person decided to build a tiny house and while they did show each home it different stages of construction, there were no real details for how it was done. I will say the documentary was well done if you were looking for back story for why people... Read more
Interesting film about one young man and a couple who are building tiny homes, and another woman who already lives in one. I personally thought far too much time was spent on what was going on "emotionally" with the people featured and not enough time was spent on the actual building process, what it's really like to live "tiny," how to whittle down one's possessions in order to live large while living small, etc. I'm not discounting the emotions of the folks in the film, I just didn't realize that the sturm und drang of their lives would be the focus. If you're looking for a practical film on going small, or a film on what it's really like to live tiny, I wouldn't recommend this one. If you're looking for information on the emotional journey that some folks went through while building their tiny homes, then this film is for you.
