Product Description
Songs Our Daddy Taught Us
A loving re-issue in best possible sound of the Everly Brothers timeless homage to their roots, Songs Our Daddy Taught Us. In reality it should probably have been ''Songs Our Daddy, Grandaddy, Uncle, Second Cousin etc... Taught Us'', but that would not have been so snappy.
The Everly Brothers came from a singing family in Kentucky and their parents Ike & Margaret were folk singers. This album draws songs from the distant past, such as Barbara Allen which originates from the Tudor period, Who's Gonna Shoe Your Pretty Little Feet, an old Scottish ballad, and songs from the 20th century like Put My Little Shoes Away that first surfaced in a 1910 song book and from the 1930s, Gene Autrey's Silvered Haired Daddy Of Mine.
The album was recorded in 1958, but would not sound any different if it was made yesterday. Don & Phil deliver these timeless and poignant songs which even more than their pop material show off the incredible natural Everly harmonies.
