This grip works great on the A7RII. Since I use the big Sony 28-135mm f/4 lens, the grip enables me to securely hold the camera. It holds two batteries, replacing one inside the camera so you have double the battery capacity. Its two batteries fit in a little slide-out tray, and it consumes the outside battery first. This allows replacing just that battery without pulling out the tray. When switching between using the grip vs the camera by itself, the battery door on the camera must be removed and attached to the post on the grip. There is a little lever and release button on the battery door that makes this fairly quick and easy, once you get the hang of it.
A thoughtfully engineered and solidly built product. I got it after having my a7ii for several months, and it's revealed some of the clever design foresight that was put into the camera body itself to accommodate this grip.

Most of the important controls (shutter release, shutter speed dial, aperture dial, C1, C2, C3, and AEL/AF) are replicated in a natural way so you...

I picked up this battery grip after a few months of owning the Sony A7II. As a portrait shooter a battery grip is an essential accessory. One of the major advantages to this grip is being able to use 2 batteries on this camera. Having 2 batteries definitely helps me power through some longer photo and video sessions. Quality is fantastic, especially compared to the knockoffs out there.
