This is a true (?), humorous and irreverent account of growing up in Galashiels in the Scottish Borders of the €˜50s and €˜60s with a Polish, Catholic father and a mildly eccentric mother from Fife.
The author
The author was born in the Borders in 1947, educated at his local academy then Edinburgh University (MA and PhD), moved south to work in various companies (with a ten year interlude back in Glasgow helping run the buses and trains), ending up as a director of a market research agency in Manchester. Much of his working life has been spent giving presentations and after-dinner speeches at business and other functions. He returned to Scotland in 2011 to be near, but not too near, his grandchildren. He is still married and admits to having at least three children.
