This mill brought my brew-day to a grinding halt... I got through 3lbs of 2-row with this before the drive shaft broke away from the roller. I had 15G of strike water to temp and a yeast starter ready to go. I was using a hand held drill at a low rpm (<180). The joint looked so weak that I'm sure it would have come off with the manual crank too. Amazon have accepted the return, so I should at least be able to get a refund, since I'm within a few days of purchase.
It is a piece of junk, don't buy.
Excellent product. Heavy duty, really worked great. I was able to do about 11 pounds of grain in just a few minutes with very consistent results. The only thing I would change has nothing to do with the product or operation at all, but just provide a template for the bottom of it. I built a hardboard mount to go over the bucket when crushing the grains and it would have helped to have had a template showing exactly where the holes were for mounting as well as the opening on the bottom for the grain to pass through. That's a minor issue though, the product itself works great.
Have finally got mine all going, and so far pretty happy with it. I've probably done less than 50 lbs through it, but with my drill chucked onto it, takes NO time to work through a bucket of grains. I typically use around 12 to 15 lbs of grain per batch for mash, and despite the size, this doesn't take any time to run through right before adding to tank. So far so good, no complaints, seems to be a good option to much higher priced solutions (if you don't mind manual crank or can fashion your own motor/drill).
