Stollen with Jamaican Rum (17.6 ounce)

No German Christmas celebration is complete without a Stollen - the Christstollen, the King of all Christmas pastries. This yeast-cake is similar to an Italian Panettone, except it is folded and rounded into an oval to represent the infant Jesus in a bundle of swaddling clothes. Oebel Stollen is dotted with a generous amount of sultanas, candied fruits (orange, lemon and citron peel), Jamaican rum and a smattering of hazelnuts then sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Stollen has been made in Germany for over 600 years. Stollen is a yeast bread, like panettone, but denser and actually gets better with time! Ours comes from the Pastry Chefs from Konditorei Brüder Oebel, Köln (Cologne), one of the largest enterprises of this kind with 100 years of tradition.
