SubstrateSource Alternanthera reineckii (Telanthera Cardinalis) is a striking stem plant with bright pink, purple, bronze, and green leaves. A. reineckii is a true aquatic that grows along riverbanks, both above and below the waterline. This plant can be sensitive to sudden changes in water quality or temperature. We like to use this plant to add a splash of color in middle zones or in background groupings. For optimal growth, plant the individual stems into mature aquarium substrate. Potted plants are grown in 2-inch slotted or mesh plastic pots. The pots are made out of recycled plastic. Potted plants are grown without soil in rockwool media. The rockwool media allows the plants to grow in a clean, soil-free environment, ready to ship. To prepare your plant for the aquarium, first gently remove the pot.
