The SF18650 is a "protected" battery because it features a protection circuit module (PCM), which provides safety features "unprotected" 18650 batteries do not, including protection against overcharging, over-discharging, excessive current draw, and short-circuiting. The rechargeable 18650 lithium-ion battery, which has a long service life, can be used in Surefire products like the Peacekeeper P1R.
