2015 release, the veteran British rock bands first studio album for seven years, and the 12th studio album in a career spanning 52 years. Recorded as true as possible to their 'live' sound and roots at the 811 Studios, entirely on analogue tape with a Trident Series 80 mixing console, giving it that cool, vintage-edged sound. Classic Pretty Things. The striking cover features original art work by Phil May.

Who would have ever thought The Pretty Things would still be releasing such a high quality disc after all these DECADES ? The guys return with a fabulous disc that features 10 tracks that say what they have to say , and then are over. The disc is brief by today's standards , but that is not a bad thing , just an observation. The ten tracks are all first rate , and because of their brevity , each time I spin the disc , I play it through twice completely. Do yourself a rock and roll favor , and buy this great release.
This new CD is slightly unexpected considering May's health just last year. But expectations are totally fulfilled as the legendary lineup energize and mystify with some new players but the same BOLD Pretty Things sound. In fact, THIS sound harks back to the bands origins mores than their 70s excursions into deeper layered concepts. This is gutsy blues in every shade and speed. Shockingly simple. I hate to nay-say the Stones (I'll always be a diehard no matter where they roll)...but...why the hell can't THEY reconnect with this heartfelt gut-stuff instead of the endless Keef riffing? The sounds here are likely the final wave and rave of that initial Brit invasion. I can die happy. Oh you pretty things...thanks for that and thanks for this.
It does't get any more musically real then these guys. Their first new release in 7 years is another masterpiece. Raunchy, rocking, psychedelic, English blues at it's best. If you've never heard the Pretty Things, buy this CD, then get the box set, and you'll you'll hear what you've been missing since the mid 1960's. Still proudly carrying on the tradition of the British Invasion 50 years later, and making magnificent music!! Now all they need to do is maybe an American tour.........
