Sweet Things from the Ellie Greenwich

We continue our celebration of the career of Ellie Greenwich and Jeff Barry with this addition to our popular Songwriters series.

Together for just three years, this New York couple were the most successful songwriting partnership of their time. They are best known for the work they supplied to producer Phil Spector's stable of artists, represented here by unforgettable tracks by the Crystals and Ronettes, and for Leiber & Stoller s Red Bird label, including classics by the Shangri-Las, Dixie Cups, Jelly Beans and Butterflys.

In addition to their joint compositions, our collection features earlier songs penned by Ellie Greenwich for Darlene Love, Jay and the Americans, Bob B Soxx and the Blue Jeans, the Exciters and others, plus later numbers written by Jeff Barry for artists such as Reparata and the Delrons, Freddie Scott and the Strangeloves.
