I'm not the dating kind, never have been. My best friend, well, she calls me a manwhore. Maybe that's what I am, hell. Whatever the label, I just like to have a good time. It's not like the girls don't know the stakes before throwing in; they do. They all do. There are those that think they can change my mind or think they can fix me. I'm not broken. I don't have mommy issues. Damn, I don't even come from a broken home. My parents love one another, love me and my sisters. They aren't the root of my behavior.

Truth be told, I don't know why I can't feel anything for them, these girls who come and go for a night, but what I do know is this: the conquest is the thrill. After I've been with them, I don't feel the excitement, the lust, anymore. Ever.

Those eyes, though. When my eyes lock with hers, and the most brilliant blue eyes I've ever seen are sparkling at me from behind her insanely large, black glasses, I want to feel.

But I'm afraid.

I'm scared of losing Avery, my best friend. She set me up on this blind date with her friend, knowing the potential consequences but swearing I was better than I thought. God, I hope she's right because...

I'm scared of hurting Drew King. This spunky little thing makes me wish for things I've never even thought about. I'd do anything to protect her, and I just fucking met her. The thought of something happening to her, well, it terrifies me. She's got me wrapped around her tiny pinky finger, and I just met her.

One date, maybe two. That's it. I'll make good on my promise to Avery, wine and dine Drew, but then, I'm done.

I just have to keep my pants firmly around my waist and stay out of her bed.
