- Usually jet-black, with little to no variation or visible grain. Occasionally dark brown or grayish-brown streaks may be present
- Gaboon Ebony has a Janka Hardness rating of 3080 lb(f)
- Sold as a bookmatched pair cut from a single block. Sold as a pair. Each is at least 5" x 1-1/2" x 3/8". Use sealer to bring out the color and close the pores when finishing.
Gaboon Ebony grows across equitorial west Africa, and is usually jet-black, with little to no variation or visible grain. Occasionally dark brown or grayish-brown streaks may be present. Has a high oil ocntent, and requires sharp tools. Use sealer to close the pores when finishing.
