I ordered this book for my grandson. In general, this is an interesting way to introduce small children to science, however, there are factual errors and glossing over topics that the author is not familiar with. For instance, on page 14, cellulose is described as a protein. Cellulose IS NOT a protein, it is a polysaccharide. Proteins are made up of amino acids, cellulose is a polymer of glucose. On page 20, it is stated that all organisms start out as a single cell called a stem cell. This is not how embryogenesis is described. If there are to be further editions of this book, they must be written and edited by knowledgable scientists. I bought several other books in this series, and will comment on them after I have had a good look. In my defense, I must state that I am a life-scientist, with a Professorial career spanning four decades at major US universities.
My son has been able to very explain science techniques since reading these series and finds great joy in reading them. He's now eager to get involved in science projects without us having to fuss at him.
The idea of these books is great, but they need to make the book longer with more of a plot so that children have time to get into the adventure and learn the information.
