I was astounded at how the book ended! Not many books make me say wow at the end, but this one has me repeating it. It is an ending that you won't see coming in a million years.' Kelly's Book Corner

A perfect divorce. A new flame. And a deadly obsession.

Nadine and Jake Saunders were married as teens. Tied to one another by a night of passion that resulted in a pregnancy neither could turn away from.

Now, years later, their children have all flown the nest and the pact they made as teenagers – to give one another the freedom to pursue their own dreams – has resurfaced.

But freedom comes at a price …

While Nadine and Jake begin to untangle their lives from one another, Jake embarks on a passionate affair with a beautiful woman, Karin Moylan. What he doesn’t know is the dark history Karin shares with Nadine.

As lust spirals into dangerous obsession, Jake must break free from Karin. But he must also ask himself how well he ever really knew Nadine. What secret is she hiding? The truth, when it is revealed, could destroy them all.

If you devoured Girl on the Train, The Husband’s Secret and Gone Girl then make sure THIS is the book you pick up next.

Sometimes I think I must read different books than the ones I read the reviews on. The book wasn't horrible but I really didn't categorize it as a thriller. I was actually very disappointed in it. I was expecting a really big surprise ending. It was very anti-climatic. I didn't particularly care for any of the characters.
This is a lame ending for a psychological thriller...

I feel I wasted my time reading this book. It certainly is not in the same category as Gone Girl, or Girl on a Train, or any of the others. It had the potential to be, but the ending fell flat. So flat. Suggest the author pull it and re-write the ending, and send it back out to all buyers. Not a satisfying ending AT ALL.
Wow! This novel was so absorbing and suspenseful that it was difficult to break away from the story of Nadine and Jake. The thing that really kept me reading, besides having to know what happened next, was that things like this happen in real life. Not often, I'm sure, but once is too often.

So many things occurred right around the same time, as a perfect storm, if you will, that set changes in motion for Nadine and Jake. I found the characters so very complex and well thought out, which is something I really value in a book. I immediately found myself relating to both Nadine and Jake and imagining how I'd feel in their shoes......

It's hard to say much without giving away the plot, but suffice it to say that I was so taken by this book and impressed with the author's work that I immediately checked into her earlier works. Laura Elliott really knows how to write a psychological thriller and if you enjoy those types of books, I'd highly recommend this one!
