Few things in life can so easily put a smile on my face the way this show does. The animation isn't fantastic, but the style itself is great, and suits the show well. And it's really the atmosphere that knocks this show out of the park for me --- it's campy, silly fun. Capt. Lou Albano and Danny Wells will always be the greatest voices for the Mario Bros, and they go the distance in making the live-action segments just as fun as the cartoon (which I'm glad are included in these sets, unlike the ones put out by NCircle Entertainment). It's a wonderful show for the young, and the young at heart. Watch it on a Friday afternoon with some takeout pizza, and make some memories. Don't miss it!
OK, so they got the live segments, the bumpers, and the Zelda promos...but the cartoons are incomplete. In another instance of lawyers and copyright greed ruining everything, the original songs accompanying the climactic action sequences in the cartoons are replaced with bland and usually inappropriate instrumental substitutes. They didn't get the "rights." I now regret getting rid of my original VHS releases which retained the songs. For example:

"Pirates of the Koopa" originally had the song "Limbo Rock" by Chubby Checker. On this DVD release it's some completely scene-inappropriate instrumental music. And in "Too Hot to Handle" I believe the original song was "Hot Hot Hot" by Buster Poindexter. More like gone gone gone. These are just two examples but every episode is missing its song.

The problem with this is the songs added to the overall quality of the show. As a kid, I knew that when the song kicked in, it was the climax of the show, and then the... Read more
I like this DVD collection. My only disappointment is that the songs are missing. I knew something was strange when the songs get cut out. For example, there was one episode where Mario sings rolling on the river. That's missing, as well as some other songs that they sing in the episodes. Copyright issues? Perhaps. It would have been better if they spend extra money to get the songs intact.
