Joe and Bill Ramsey are Chosen to lead the newly chartered Weeksbury local of the United Mine Workers of America. With their positions of President and Vice-President they are expected to bring changes to the slave like treatment forced upon the poor miners by the powerful coal company. Joe and Bill quickly shut down the mines of the Kopper's Coal Compamy and at once the wicked raft of the coal company is brought to the door step of every frightened miner. Not relenting as danger and death met them at every turn, they fought hard to keep the miners together and rallied behind the U.M.W.A. banner. Somestimes the fight required foul name calling, sometimes rocks and sometimes deadly weapons, but in the end all would seam to be meaningless.
