Additional Information

How does the church get into tomorrow? Is there a common place for the generations to meet for a discussion of the journey? Is there a guide that would be viewed by everyone in the pews as reliable, true, and wise? Are there boundaries beyond which the people of God should not go? Are there things that are not part of our mission? These are my questions…and maybe yours. I believe the experience of God’s people in exile has something helpful to say to us. Let’s go back to the future together and look at Isaiah 40-55 in light of today.

Boone shows us that we are not in a unique place as ministers of the gospel. Indeed, God and his people have certainly been here before in other times and places. Boone doesn't give us answers to particular questions--in fact he raises more questions than perhaps we'd thought of. Instead, he reminds us where to go for answers: to the scripture God has provided us. As a church planter, I will use the teachings of this book as I look at my community and seek God's answers for the unchurched.
Very helpful and hopeful in addressing their church in America. Instead of trying to get back to the "good old days" of the church we are encouraged to let God do something new as we remain faithful witnesses for Christ.
Great book, great truths, great blueprint for a sermon series for any pastor wanting to lead his/her congregation through transition.
