Husband keeps it nearby when he studies philosophy.
I am taking an online philosophy class and was getting a little confused by the textbook's definitions. This handy little dictionary fixed that problem.
This product lacks any fundamental background for the author's definitions. It might prove helpful for those in a beginning class of Philosophy, but fails to meet basic standards for a critical reader. More correctly the book should be titled the "Metaphysical/Perennial Philosophy dictionary". The author's lack of scientific rigor is evident when he failed to include a key word/concept which both Aristotle and Plato wrote a book covering; "Sophist." The meaning of sophist is simple, it is when someone appears wise but in reality the person is not; so much like this author. One begins to understand the complexity of the author by his definition of "Totalitarianism" and his apparent distaste for the concept but his acceptance or favoritism of the God concept, which he does not cover. The author's selection of concepts to cover also reveals the intent of the book which is contrary to any common understanding of "Philosophy" (another word he avoids.) Philosophy is the Greek word...
