The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav immerses players deep in the world of Aventuria, where they experience an amazing story and explore lands never before featured in a TDE computer game.

In Andergast, whose inhabitants are considered to be notoriously superstitious, King Efferdan awaits a state visit from high-ranking dignitaries. For centuries the kingdom has been at odds with neighboring Nostria, but now first steps are being undertaken toward a lasting peace. But a plague of crows troubles the king, for the birds are acting with unusual aggressiveness, even attacking humans. Moreover, there are those among the citizens of Andergast who swear that the crows are bringing them dark nightmares. As the belligerent creatures infiltrate even the castle itself, the king seeks a skilled bird catcher - an opportunity for young Geron to prove that the reputation for ill luck that has followed him since childhood is undeserved. Following an audience with the king, the prestigious task is assigned to him. However, not only does his task prove unexpectedly difficult, but it also turns out to be the first step of the greatest adventure of his life, which will lead him to the borders of the charted lands of Aventuria and beyond.

If you grew up loving the classic adventure games (such as King's Quest), you will for sure enjoy this journey. It is set in a magical fantasy world (beautifully painted backgrounds) and has interesting characters (great voice acting). The story is so creative (it is more mature and darker than the classics) and intriguing that it will keep you up all night to find out what happens next! The puzzles are challenging in a fun way and not at all frustrating. The second game in this point-and-click series (Memoria) steps it up and takes you even further into the world and the characters and magic within. Highly recommend both games (play them in order as the story continues)!
I'm not as crazy about this game as I expected, but that's entirely my fault. I'm new to gaming, and didn't realize I'm not that into puzzle games or point and click games. So that problem is really more with me than with the game.

That said, I like the story, and if I think of it more as a story, as a very lovely picture book with interactive elements, then I like it more. The artwork is truly beautiful, and I do enjoy that quite a bit. I may even get the sequel Memoria, since I do care about the characters and want to see what happens to them next. It's just not really the game type I like, as it turns out.

However, the price was right--it was under $5 when I got it, so I don't regret purchasing it, and I will play it; it's just probably unfortunate that I got it at the same time I got Dragon Age: Origins, which is a very different game, and more what I think I wanted in a game. However, there is one thing I like better about this game: there is something... Read more
Purchased on Steam (and originally published July 9, 2014 by me on Steam)

This is a game that I started probably a year ago, then got distracted by other games, and finally came back to a few days ago and finished. What does that say about this game? Not too much....I started this on the heels of playing a couple other point and clicks such as Primordia and realized that I wasnt ready to commit the time to it at that point. Recently, I started really craving a good point and click tough, so I came back to the game, and I am glad I did.

Set in the Dark Eye universe (which many other games such as the Drakensang's, Blackguards also hail), gives it a sort of muted, middle ages with mysticism feel to it, which held true in this game. It's a really interesting setting in my opinion. You play as Geron, a bird catchers apprentice whose master is slain for his participation in the burning of an evil prophet 13 years prior to the events of the game, and his knowledge of... Read more
