Additional Information

Since the Seattle Mariners' first pitch on April 6, 1977, the Emerald City has witnessed the "M's" evolve from scrappy expansion franchise to establishing record-setting win totals. The bond between players and Pacific Northwest is apparent in an all-time roster so familiar, it's on a first-name basis: Edgar, Alvin, Junior, Ichiro, Randy, Jamie, Jay, and Lou.

Just as with the Mariners team of 2010, I had high hopes but was ultimately disappointed with this DVD set. The four games presented in this set sounded promising, mostly. The first two selections were no-doubters: the one-game playoff against the Angels in 1995, and the ALDS Game 5 vs. the Yankees in '95. The third one- Game 3 of the 2000 ALDS against the White Sox- is a great choice, a real nail-biter of a game. The last pick, however, is less than inspired: the division clincher from 2001. This is a terrible choice for many reasons, and as a result, it sullies the rest of the set. First, it's a downer. Just the second game after the 9/11 attacks, the Mariners' winning the division crown was anti-climatic, and the announcers are somewhat downbeat. The only truly interesting thing about the game--the post-game prayer at the mound accompanied by the hoisting of the American flag--is cut from the DVD. Also, the resolution of the broadcast is shoddy at best. The default audio... Read more
Sigh... The Seattle Mariners, just thinking about them makes me smile. As I write this review they're 26-41 with no chance of getting to the post-season, but I just LOVE the Mariners. I was born in 1995 so I don't remember the fantastic season they had that year. But I do remember the 2001 season. And if your a Mariners fan this collection is a must have.

The first game on this collection is the 1995 AL West One-Game Playoff when the Seattle Mariners played the California Angels at the Kingdome. The Mariners were tied with the Angels with the record 78 -66 causing a one game tie-breaker.

The second game is the 1995 AL Division Series Game 5 Winner. The Mariners faced the New York Yankees in a thrilling 11 inning game. In my opinion, these first two games are perfect selections for this DVD set; they highlighted this incredible Mariners team at their highest point.

The third game features the 2000 AL Division Game 3 Series Winner against the Chicago... Read more
If you're a Seattle sports fan, there isn't much to celebrate in the past couple of years but this DVD will at least put a smile on your face.

Games included are the 1995 AL West One Game Playoff vs Angels, 1995 ALDS Game 5 vs. Yankees, 2000 ALDS Game Three, and 2001 AL West Division clincher.

There is a debate along the lines of why the 2001 AL West clincher is in there. As noted in a previous review, the audio is somewhat muddled and the picture is pixelated (mainly from what I figured is video conversion from the early 2000's) but improves during the game.

I figured the inclusion of this game is mainly due to the 9/11 attacks and the Mariners clinching the AL West. Sure, they could have gone with the season opener or the 116th win but I see the issues they probably saw when choosing the game from this season. The season opener was an outstanding game but doesn't make sense for a opening season game that celebrates 116 wins and the 116th win was a... Read more
