When Auntie Catherine warns the family of an approaching asteroid, the Gales scramble to keep humans from going the way of the dinosaurs. Fortunately for the world, they're wielding a guitar and a dragon.
The Gale family can change the world with the charms they cast, which has caused some supernaturally complicated family shenanigans in the past. So when NASA and Doomsday Dan confirm Auntie Catherine's dire prediction, Charlotte "Charlie" Gale turns to the family for help.
But Allie is unavailable because the universe seems determined to have her produce the seventh son of a seventh son of a seventh son of a Gale. And the Aunties can't help because they're tied to the earth – although they are happy to provide their delicious, trademark pies. And in the end, all Charlie has is a guitar...
...and Jack. The Dragon Prince, and a Sorcerer.
But Charlie might like Jack just a little too much, and Jack might like Charlie a little too much in return. Actually, between Allie's hormones, the Aunties trying to force her and Jack into ritual, the Courts having way too much fun at the end of days, and Jack's sudden desire to sacrifice himself for the good of the many, Charlie's fairly certain that the asteroid is the least of her problems.
The Gales are going to need more than pie to save the world from an incoming asteroid. But together there isn't anything they can't deal with – except possibly each other.

This is my favorite series from Tanya Huff. I don't know if this is intended as a final chapter but it certainly answers many questions I had starting with the original story. The unique origins of the Gale family are revealed, and how these lead to their surprising code of behavior is herein explained.
The story picks up where it left off in the last book, with Charlie (magical bard) and Jack (part sorcerer part dragon) now slightly older. They have grown to love each other but Jack is not only younger than Charlie, the age difference is one of the few hard and fast Gale family taboos. While they struggle with this Charlie discovers an asteroid is coming to earth. Will Charlie find a way to avert catastrophe? Can Charlie and Jack find a solution? Will the notoriously family centric Gale clan find away to protect the family or will Charlie and Jack succeed in saving the world?
This book is filled with all kinds of pop culture humor, fan humor and musical...
I'd really give this 3.5 out of 4 stars.
My first Tanya Huff novel was Summon the Keeper, which still makes me laugh to this day. Huff is an interesting writer who has a wide variety of writing personalities - some dark and traditional and some extremely light, which the Emporium series/Gale family fell into.
I really liked the first two - they were light, easy reading with lots of pop-culture quirks that no one reading the books will understand in 20 years. They were laugh-out-loud funny.
Now we get to the 3rd book and deeper into the complexity that is Charlie Gale. Given Charlie's role in the first book (a 2ndary character) I didn't think she would warrant her own books, which is what she has gotten with 2 & 3. Still, I liked Charlie in the 2nd book, and I jumped to get this one.
The Future Falls is less quirky and funny and more doom-and-gloom than I expected. It's about the end-of-the-world (literally) and what the Gales can do to...
This is (I assume) the conclusion of one of my favorite series of all time. I adore time travel novels. So in theory this should be my favorite of the Enchantment Emporium series--but it wasn't. That isn't to say it's now going to be read another 4 or 5 times--it just means that the others were better
The positive: Great dialogue, high stakes, Auntie Jane, Auntie Jane blistering Auntie Bea, (Auntie Jane is a favorite of mine) the twins who can't say Charlie but can say preposterous, basketball crazed Fay Folk.
The negatives: I had a hard time believing that Charlie and Jack were star-crossed lovers in a family where (almost) any sexual combination is allowed. In a family where cousins sleep with each other, bisexuality is a given and Gale Girls are attracted to Men Of Power, the excuse that the age difference (13 years) created an imbalance of power was almost impossible to believe. After all--Jack's half Gale and half Dragon Prince and...
