What would the world be like if it was run by women?
College student, Ernie Gutierrez, wants nothing more than to open a commercial Filipino restaurant in memory of his late aunt. His brother, Carlos, wants nothing more that to get drunk and rack of the tally of girls he's slept with. But when a mysterious stranger comes along and offers to install a subwoofer in Ernie's hatchback, things take a turn for the weird. Because this isn't just any subwoofer. No, no. This is an INTERDIMENSIONAL SUBWOOFER. And it takes the brothers to a world very different from our own--This is a world run entirely by women.
Now on the other side, Ernie and Carlos must find a way to fit in to this alternate dimension or risk subjugation for being the aliens they truly are. Will Ernie and Carlos ever get back home to see their dreams come true, or will they be trapped forever in a world where the roles of gender inequality are reversed, and women are in control?

Interview with the author
Q: So, is this a time travel novel, or a dimension hopping novel? What's the difference? Is there any?
A: There are more similarities than differences in this book. With the dimension hopping, there is also an aspect of time tripping, as the dimensions are off by a few months. It affects the overall narrative, especially close to the middle of the story.
Q: Are there fantasy elements in this book like your other stories?
A: Of course. This is a science fiction novel (And new adult if I'm understanding the genre correctly), but there will always be fantasy elements in my books. I can't keep them out of there.
Q: Would this be considered a humorous science fiction story? The title certainly lends itself to humor.
A: Yeah. I'd say so. There's definitely a lot of humor in this story, especially with Carlos' character. He's the comic relief, even if he is a bit coarse at times.
Q: Final question. Will there be short stories connected with this book like your other two novels, The Darkness of the Womb and A Boy and His Corpse?
A: Not as of yet, but the sky's the limit. I really dig the characters, so you never know.

I really enjoyed this book. It was very well written and interesting, but it's the kind of book that will cause Book Clubs to turn on each other. Let me explain...
"Subwoofer" follows two pairs of brothers from alternate dimensions, one pair from our patriarchal society, and one from an alternate society. The two pairs switch dimensions due to a scientist from the alternate dimension's machinations. Our pair are meant to be the saviors of the other realm, due to them being more "manly," (at least one is). Obviously, things don't go as he planned, because that wouldn't make much of a story.
What's gonna be divisive about the book, and one of its greatest virtues, is that you can't tell if Knight is lampooning Men, Women, or both. People will inevitably take sides and call the other side "dumb" "antigender," and all the other standard troll comments. Again, I love that. A book that doesn't make you think isn't one worth reading...
No matter what I was doing, or what state of mind I was in, each time I picked up this story I was instantly engulfed by the world created by the author. Richard Knight's style and imagery makes it easy on the reader to leave this world behind and launch their mind into an elaborate new dimension. The characters are easy to relate to, and once you find yourself connecting to them they take you on a journey like none other. I don't exactly know how to put it, but the story just had a good FEEL to it; every time I sat down with it I felt like I was returning to a comfortable place. I recommend The Interdimensional Subwoofer to anyone looking for a story that will instantly transport them into awesome and uncharted zones of sci-fi.
Reading The Interdimensional Subwoofer brought back memories of seeing the original Back to the Future in the theater (yes, I am that old!). Frat brothers Ernie and Carlos are transported to an alternate dimension, and their doppelgängers are stranded on our earth. The bothers must put aside their differences and work together to foil a plot to enslave both worlds.
Great read and an author to watch!
