Additional Information

This unique Haggada is inspired by the Bird's Head Haggada, one of the oldest Haggadot still extant, dating back to the end of the 13th century, which is in the collections of the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. The Jews are depicted with bird heads. The Haggada is richly illustrated with movable pop-ups, showing the baking of Matzot, the ten plagues, the Crossing of the Red Sea, and other major scenes pertaining to Passover. These pop-ups are entertaining for adults and children. The Hebrew text is based on the Koren Haggada with English translation.

Originally bought the Koren Bird's Head Haggada as a gift, but wanted to own it after looking through it - and bought another copy: worth owning. Spent a delightful afternoon sharing the book with a relative and we were both impressed with the commentary included, an extra bonus I had not anticipated. The pop-ups capture the attention of both adults and children. Passover is an important time for our family and this newly cherished Haggada will now be part of our continuing tradition.
I initially purchased 6 of these Haggadot for teaching religious school. But, my family loved popping up and moving the accurate pictures. The book has English translations, prayers are in Hebrew without transliteration, so, must be able to read Hebrew.
Based upon 13th century Bird's Head Haggada, so adults enjoy historic authenticity. I now own 14 of these prayer books and always enjoy watching guests marvel at the depiction of "people" and wine stains (seen as part of the original text). When we have large numbers of family and friends, we share. My extended family have bought these for their grandchildren and Seders.
I rotate pop up books with other haggadot every other year.
If you want to bring discussion to your table and enlighten your family and or guests, this Haggada provides more then a service to your yearly Seder. You will laugh, sing and discuss how through the centuries, Jewish people gather around Seder table, perform the mandatory prayers, and rituals... Read more
This very clever, instructive, and colorful pop-up edition of the Passover Haggada is adapted from one of the oldest illustrated Haggadot in the world, published in Germany around 1300 and now held by the Israel Museum. The images depict the Exodus from Egypt, the many miracles recorded in the Bible that occurred at that time, the preparations for the Passover Seder meal that commemorates the exodus, and the many Seder practices that are designed to encourage participation in recalling the ancient event. The unusual pop-up presentation is designed to draw children and adults to the use of this Haggada, enjoy the strikingly colorful pictures, have fun playing with the pull-outs, and thereby participate in the recollection of the exodus.

The word Haggada and its plural form Haggadot mean "telling," and the festive meal called Seder, means "order." Both suggest the carefully orchestrated order that the ancient rabbis devised and the practices they placed in the Seder to draw... Read more
