Yeah, it's nostalgic and has a good idea, but the rules are not thorough and say "Obey the Cards" when the cards don't explain what the outcome should be.
I was sourly disappointing in this game, I had been anticipating its release since the kickstarter. This is another example of someone getting the money and running. Overall the game is very flat, the rules don't cover all of the rules of play like turn structure or when players can play cards. There is a lack of mechanics in the game and it really boils down to a glorified rock paper scissors against a deck of poorly worded cards. Some cards do not interact with nearly as many cards as the others do. For example, bullets are only useful for one other card in the deck, and all that does is give you the invisible attribute of having 400 pounds of bison and rabbit. Meat? Fur? Pet? I'm assuming its inteded to be used as a food resource but it isn't defined anywhere and seems like more of an afterthought. A lot of the game does. I feel that the skeleton system of a game exists, but no one actually bothered to add the fluff and stuff to make it enjoyable or even bother to proofread the...
A short game. Almost not worth understanding the rules, which are not written in the best way for quick understanding. I recall the original game on the green and white Apple/MACs being difficult, but that doesn't mean a card game needs reflect that. When you "die" on the first round the first time playing a new game, not much fun is had.
There are good elements to this but I feel like this should have been a beta version and not the final. You can choose to help your friends or you can save your good cards for yourself, but ultimately keeping everyone alive makes it much easier to win.
The game may be meant to be played for several short rounds.
It gave us an hour of laughs and nostalgia but I don't think we'll play it again.
