Here and abroad, the boys encounter many thrilling adventures and solve many baffling mysteries.

I first discovered Rick Brant "back in the day" when new Hardy Boys books (my favorite) were being issued at a rate of one per year. Having purchased and read all the previously published ones, I needed something to fill the void while I anxiously awaited the arrival of each new one. The Rick Brant series did just that (though after reading all the previously released Rick Brant titles, I was soon waiting for that annual release, too). These books had mystery and adventure aplenty (with not too much science, lest I would not have read them). I wanted something fun and escapist--not something didactic or techno-nerdy. These fit the bill.

I suspect there are two audiences, today, for these books. Oldsters (like me) seeking to recapture their youth, and children/YAs who want some fun reading. (These were originally directed to boys, ages 10-14.) At present, 11 titles are available at no cost on Kindle in public domain (look under Harold Leland Goodwin), but for those who... Read more
I read several of the Rick Brant series as a young boy (I am Linda's husband) and enjoyed them very much. When I found ebay as an adult, I collected the rest of the series and now that I'm retired recently reread the entire series, including the Magic Talisman which is still very difficult to find. I feel very fortunate to own the entire series in hard copy. I did order these e-books for my kindle to minimize wear and tear on the hard copy volumes that are available in the e-format. I was really surprised at how well written this series is compared to some of the other juvenile series books, especially given the Grosset & Dunlap publishing guidelines in place at the time for juvenile series books. It is interesting to note the progression of the writing and character development from the first book to the last one as they were written over a period of more than twenty years and yet the main characters remained near the same age. The one major disappointment I have is that not... Read more
When I was a kid, I was already a voracious reader by the age of 5. My dad bought me several series of books that were popular at that time. This series is the one I remember most fondly. The rust brown, canvas covers of my copies became worn through as I read and reread them. Now I can read and reread without the danger of destroying my Kindle copies. My only complaint is that not all of the stories have been published in Kindle form. I hope they are someday so I can complete my set and keep them handy.
