The Segovia Collection, Vol. 8: Platero & I And Other Works By Castelnuovo-Tedesco

Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco was one of the many composers who were inspired to create a large body of excellent guitar music by Segovia's artistry. The pieces from Platero and I included on this disc come from a sort of Spanish Peter and the Wolf and may be performed separately or with narration. The composer's respect for Segovia is more obviously represented by the Tonadilla on the Name of AndrÃ©s Segovia, which is, needless to say, very well played by its dedicatee, as are all of the pieces on this enjoyable disc. --David Hurwitz
